Poem 794

Come on, now..
Where are stars
and where are we?
Mere specks upon
The Earth.. what’s
there to see?

Real stars
are massive orbs
of plasma
far away in outer
space.
And if you tried
to hold one lovingly..
you would incinerate.

Their distant glimmer,
cold in its indifference,
is all that we are able
to behold from here.

Your fellow speck
of life upon The Earth
is warm, however..
when it holds you
near and dear.
