Poem 634

Just the right amount
of analgesic action
to avoid pain circuit
sensitizing
neuroplasticity.

To numb discomfort
that’s entailed
by the procedures
meant to rectify
the misalignment
of my physiognomy
with my perceived
facticity.

What is a face
if not a mask
with which
we’re born?
Merely a mask
of skin that’s
tightly stretched
over our bones.

With just a few
minor adjustments,
here and there,
at last I’ll have
a face
to proudly
call my own.

Alas, the realest
ones among us
have the gonads
to make do
without the wimpy
analgesia..
The Ones who take
the scalpel
to their kisser
bloody raw.
