Poem 626

A pair of soft
and rosy lips..
too far from me
to kiss.
A pair of eyes
that gazed up
at me
with a tender
longing..
that I learned
to miss.

A pair of cheeks
that would receive
my many smooches
with a giggly gusto..
but where are they
now? Who could’ve
guessed?

Upon the head
of silky hair
that many times
I reached
to lovingly caress.
The head that
found its home,
upon a time,
so naturally
pressed..
against
a heartbeat
meant for her
alone..
still caged
for her
inside my
chest.

A heartbeat
now too faint
for her to hear.
Too far away.
Too long
from now.
Too distant.
Still..

for you alone,
my dear.
Wish
you were
here.
