Poem 614

So many games
were conjured up
by human will
throughout The All
of history.

Some games
required skill.
Some others
favored reflex.
Others still
were games
of strategy.

The All of games
were always
first and foremost
meant..
to stave off
our incurable
affliction..
boredom unto
Death.

Alas, sometimes
mere fun
may not alone
suffice.
Sometimes one
wishes
to have more
than
inner satisfaction
as
the victor’s prize.

The only way
to win it big..
indeed must be
to bet.
Our wagers over
outcomes
through The All
of history
have served as
quite the potent source
of dazzling fortune..
and of crippling debt.

Once we start
gambling..
all bets are off.
The joy of playing
turns to but
a cherry
on the side.

So, since it makes
no difference
what game
we play..
let’s have
our fates
decide?

Riddle me this..
Which face
do you observe
upon The Devil’s
die?
