Poem 553

How could I ever
let you go?

It’s true,
ever so often
our love gets cold..
as if a flower,
dormant underneath
a blanket of
mid-winter’s snow.

But when The Sun
comes out
it flourishes again
as if it’s spring.
We pull away
and then we’re closer
than we ever were
before..
in but a blink.

We doubt,
we overthink,
but laws of gravity
return us back
together.
I have much faith
that we’ll remain
within each other’s
deepest well
forever.

Because we hold
each other
lovingly and close..
as if two peas
within the safety
of our pod.

My similes
and metaphors
would do
these feelings
any justice
if I loved you
just a little bit..
Alas, I love you dearly,
just about with every
muscle fiber of my heart..
and so the quantity of love
I hold for you
may only be described
by words that I made up
for you alone:
“a lottle lot.”
