Poem 440

I blink at you
in morose code.
A message that
you can’t decode.
Because you do not
hold the key
to The Rosetta Stone
in me.

Blinking in
and out of sight.
You disappear
out of my mind.
Only to yet again
appear,
from Devil’s eye
to jerk a tear.

He sheds another
Rupert’s drop.
A head that no force
may destruct..
A tragic tail
I can’t erase..
I am its heel
you are its face.

Is living not
a comedy..
we’re free to look,
but not to see.
We covet what
we can’t embrace..
and then we blink..

And then it’s
“c’est la vie,
mon cher ami..”
The End
of sweet
and bitter
days.
