Poem 423

What is so beautiful..
about Death?
The only aspect
of The Poet
that he hasn’t paid
auto-lip service to..
quite yet.
The very best
is saved for last
and Death is no
exception to
this rule.

Death treats
all people fairly..
whether they be
king or commoner..
or genius or utter fool.
For, everyone deserves
to find eventual
eternal rest.
Just like the people
who once mattered
in The Poet’s life..
The Ones he left
for dead.

Alas, even more critical
is Death that happens
not to others..
rather to the old self
rotting from within.
Not all that lives in us
right now
is meant to always live.
We must release
parts of ourselves
once they’ve outlived
the purpose that they
served..
So that the space
is freed
for our newer selves
there
to be born.

So many people
recoil at mere mention
of The Grimmest Reaper..
Death.
Like it or not,
he comes
for all of us..
this manwhore
has least shame
about it..
of The All
you ever met.
