Poem 418

The Great Orion
Part II - The Earthly Gospel

Oh Great Orion..
Art thou not
Thrice-Greatest
of all fools..
Who traveled
far across
the land..
to strike upon
thy deepest truth.
Who shot the arrow
of thy fire forth..
towards a higher calling
from the heavens
up above..
away from Earth.

Oh Mother Gaia.
Her desire born
not out of Flesh,
but rather out of
Word alone.
A passion
that both gave her
wings..
and weighed her
down
as if a heavy stone.

But is it not
The Fruit Forbidden,
that which tasteth
sweetest?
A mystery unsolvable
and by The Spirit
written?
To save The Sun,
her source of light,
from clutches
of The Devil?
Or at the very least
to find her freedom..
from a thread of fates
she’s struggling to sever.

Alas, must not thou
be The Sun itself..
to have a well of gravity
that’s deep enough
to pull him out of hell?
Deep though may be
the oceans
which embed
themselves
upon The Earth..
The Devil is not
moved by them..
only the waters
that you swam in
carry any worth.

But must not thou
be tempted..
to be sure
you won’t betray?
Must not The Word
be put to Flesh
to make The Devil
pray?
Alas, if only
it were so
beneath the light
of day..
But now, the night
befell us..
And naught else
remains to say.

What goes around
eventually orbits
back around..
And even
the misleading one
eventually turns
misled..
Just like the arrow,
which eventually fell
right back upon
Orion’s head..
to strike him,
finally alive..
into the loving
arms of Death.

Thus she spoke
before he met
The End:
“””
Oh Great Orion..
Truly, truly,
I tell thee..
Thou found thy
heavenly salvation
on The Earth..
thou may now
find thy rest..
eternal in me.
