Poem 414

What is so beautiful..
about The Sun?
Is it his brilliance,
that shineth brightly..
shedding light
on darkness
from afar?
Is it the way he fuses
simple elements
to sweetest nectar
of The Gods
within his hottest core?
The way he freely gives
his love to others..
without keeping score?

Is it a beauty
that the naked eye
can see?
Take care to not
behold it for too long..
lest you be blinded,
permanently,
by his modesty.

In truth, however,
all his light..
is lifeless and inert.
So much of it
ejects to travel
aimlessly..
never to be
observed.

Its worth is found
exclusively
in those by whom
it was received.
The Ones he loved..
The Ones
he gazed upon..
to make
their beauty seen.

Truth is..
whatever beauty
that they saw
in him..
was merely but
themselves.
For, sunlight
does not beautify..
It renders visible..
the beauty
that’s already
there.
