Poem 390

Who is The Demiurge?
A secondary deity..
not The All-creator
of The Universe
you now observe,
in truth..
But she was
the image
after which
so much of it
was fashioned..
The First Muse.

She was the soil
in which,
upon a time,
I planted
my first seed..
She was The Sun
who helped this
humble sapling
grow into a proud
and noble Tree.

Upon my darkest hour,
she alone was there
to hold the sorrow
from my overflows..
for that, I offered her
a gift she never
bargained for..
the gift
of freely given
love.

Alas, in early days
of cold December,
she was banished
from my pantheon,
for good..
The Flesh
of fruits I offered
was a deathly
poison unto her..
I only spoke
my deepest truth.

The gift
of freely given
silence and exile
was the kindest
I could offer her
instead..
while still remaining
truthful to myself.

I hold no grudge,
I love her dearly
either ways..
and shall remember
all her kindness
‘til I meet, at last,
The Fifth Muse..
Death.

Alas,
our thread of fates
is severed
and shall never
mend again..
For her and I,
it seems..
this is The End.
