Poem 37

What else is there left to cherish
Other than who we are today
The past is getting but dimmer
The future, I’d rather not say

So give me boredom or give me death.
Give me denial or another cigarette.
Gimme a light.
It’s been one arduous and unforgiving night.
But dawn is upon us,
And if we live to see it, all will be well.
So give me apathy,
or give me hell.
