The Poet’s love
is greatest
not for muses,
it is true..
His greatest love
is for the poems
that he writes
in solitude.
Where were
his lovely muses
when, upon a dark
and moonless night,
alone he cried?
Not there
to hold him
lovingly and tight!
That much
is clear enough
to him alright..
Speaking
with God and Devil
through his poems
was the sweetest
comfort he could get.
And unlike muses,
God and Devil
do not come and go..
they’ll stick with him
until he’s dead.
