Poem 346

Why scorch The Devil
with my fovea..
when she is looking
nearly just as good
in my periphery.
In the forbidden zone..
of my photoelectrical
proximity.

The light that hits
my retinas
is all the same..
whether it was
observed
by rods or cones
of mine..
it still constructs
an inverse model
of your phantom
in my brain.

Before the photon
reaches me..
it bounces off of you.
By proxy only, it is true,
but what the hell?
I got to touch
The Sun today!

She didn’t get
any less hot
with time,
I have to say..
Or rather, so it seems.
From the periphery
of my hemi-neglectful
visual field.
