Humanity is not in spite of nature,
For every folly of mankind is well within our nature.
Every atrocity we euphemize as “inhumane”
Is necessarily an act that’s born of human will
That was conceived of by a human mind
And that by human hands through human labor came to be,
And then we simply shrug it off:
“It’s antithetical to what a human is, you see.”
But is that really true?
Is that the case?
Or is it us being all too human again,
All too desperate to save face?
