Yay, The Spirit
is so often willing..
but the proof
of Word’s authority,
however, liveth
in The Flesh.
How could one
ever know the strength
of His resolve..
If He refuses
to subject
its principles..
to The Devil’s Test.
Three times
The Devil tempted
Jesus Christ
during his thirst
and hunger
in the desert heat.
Not to antagonize..
but rather to observe
whether He was
The Son of Man,
not only in The Word..
but also in The Flesh
and deed.
For, Christlike virtue
does not lie
in non-existence
of the appetite
for fruit forbidden.
His virtue lies,
instead, in living life
not as commanded
by The Earthly whims..
But rather, only
as it is written.
For, it is written,
one shall not
make use of power
granted by The Father
to fulfill The Earthly need.
The Word is there
not to transform
the inorganic
to the edible..
upon which
He may feast.
For, it is written,
one shall not demand
conclusive evidence
from Father
to secure His faith.
If Jesus really
took the leap
from peaceful height
towards The Earth..
not only all His bones
but also the continuum
of His entire timeline
He would break.
For, it is written,
even if The Earth
would bow to Him
with reverence
and worship
that all men
covertly crave..
to bow right back
is to forsake
His Father’s vision
and His faith.
When The Devil tested
Jesus Christ’s resolve..
He did not feel the need
to turn His gaze.
He did not ask The Devil
to offer Him space..
For, as a Mountain,
He was firm.
He only had to do
as it is written..
in The Word.
Not only from the comfort
of His peaceful height.
But also in the moment
when it counts the most.
As He is scorched by fire
burning in The Devil’s Eye.
