The Apology
Part I - The Three Metamorphoses
In my eyes,
you were first
a camel..
traveling upon an
Ocean-bound
desert road.
You took upon me,
as a camel takes
upon a heavy load.
You held my chaos
even when your back
was soon to break.
It was a nightmare
from which you prayed
to finally wake.
And then, when came
the straw that broke
the camel’s back.
In my eyes.. you became
a lion. Ready to attack.
You couldn’t take it
anymore.
So you were vicious
and you bit at me
and then you clawed..
I never felt that kinda hurt
inflicted on me
by a girl before.
You threatened,
and you threatened,
and then you did.
You slammed the door..
and ran away and hid.
And then I lay there
in your silence..
left alone to cry
and there I bled.
And after all of that
was done and said..
Who did I see,
before my eyes
when on your doors
I came to knock
in my denial?
Well.. hopefully..
not an angry lion!
If ol’ Lady Luck
is still on my side..
I rather saw..
an injured, frightened,
little child.
The One that
eye myself had
scared and hurt..
And then refused
to take
accountability
for any of it..
seemingly at all.
As if,
from the beginning,
it weren’t my own fault.
And then The Devil’s
mocking outburst
at the end
of the beginning
was the final grain
of salt.
