Poem 176

The self exists confined
within the pattern of an
eye.
As if a teardrop in the sea..
as if it otherwise could be.
Confronted by itself:
within a cage,
within a scribbling on a page.
Conjoined to its eternal seat:
within the sound,
within the beat.

To the symmetry beholden..
Humbled by my primal origin..
Beholden to the symmetry..
I am humbled
by the fact that
I am human.
