just another
interstellar visitor
from outer space.
just another body.
just another face.
his name was Atlas..
and one could not
behold his beauty
with the naked eye
alone..
what holdeth he
upon his shoulders?
is it the weight of heavens?
or The Heaviest Stone?
he formed around a brilliant
and distant star..
indeed, to reach us, he hath
travelled oh.. so.. far.
and what did he arrive here for?
to burn himself upon another star
and then to travel more?
to live as awe and wonder
in a-many gazing eye?
to be a puzzle and a mystery
to those who try to chart
his unpredictable trajectory
throughout..
the skies?
That is what Atlas holds
upon his shoulders.
He separates the heavens
from The Earth.
And in this work alone
is where he finds
his deepest worth.
He keeps the stars
and constellation
from descending on
and crushing all of life.
For all that lives and dies
by edge of chaos..
is beholden to
The Occam’s razor
and The Reaper’s scythe.
And in his close approach to Gaia,
Atlas found his dearest joy..
and shed a manly tear..
when it was time for him to travel back
into the outer space..
away from Earth, his dear..
he dreams of when the two of them
may get another chance..
to once again
be near.
