judge not lest ye be judged yourself..
upon this earth we are the makers
of our own personal
heaven and hell.

sure, some jingle in thy pocket
may ensure a smoother ride..
but a weighty wallet
won’t lend warmth
to you upon a lonely night.

sure, a pious life of virtue
may help keep your conscience clear..
but it won’t make living any more fun
while you are still here.

by the time you draw your final breath,
your bed has already been made..
and for many, heaven’s bliss is a
gratification much delayed.

instead of letting
others tell you
how to live your life..
might as well
just get your kicks on earth
while you are youthful and alive.

if that is what you choose to do,
then you may possibly find..
that the pearly gates
are padlocked for good
and on lockdown rather tight.

and though God may not forgive you
if he ain’t of the forgiving type..
The Devil may just find it in himself
and forgive you, he just might..

unlike the pearly gates of heaven,
which are open only to believers..
the gates of hell stay open rather wide
and welcome every manner of sinner.
