Poem 134

Hermes..
The messenger of elder gods.
He is a harbinger of lightning rods..
But he is not their bringer.
He is a herald of the rolling thunder..
But of its growling rumble
he is not a singer.

Hermes..
The god of quicksters..
With his quicksilver tongue
he always takes the lead.
But also always quick he is,
as well, upon his feet..
As mercurial as he is sweet.
Basic stepping to the beat
of his own heart.. His inner lead.
He follows it wherever it is led.
The bowel of his heart, however,
is his head.

Hermes..
The god of jokesters..
The whisperer of riddly rhymes..
Especially at queerly questionable times.
His truth is heard.. but never said.
He tippy toes his beat around the bush
with gentle lightness in his tread..
With joyful whimsy and profane delight
he spins his jestful thread all day and night.
His truth is seen.. But never read.
It sprouts and blooms into a rose
of chaos in his stead.

Hermes..
The god of tricksters..
Better known as Mercury
by Romans of the old.
He is a teller of a-many myth
yet unimagined and untold.
He celebrates his birth on every 88th day.
His wisdom is joyful.. but is his science gay?
He runs his circles
recklessly and with abandon
all around The Sun.
Why does he do it?
Why else would he?
Just because he can.
Because he wants to.
Because he loves
to play with fire..
Just for fun.
