Poem 133

Yay, life is strange,
Dearly beloved stranger.. it is true..
alas, tonight, I won’t be shedding
any salty tears for you.
For there are many stars
that may be gazed upon..
that sparkle gently in the sky.
And yet, the one I speak of here
is rather special..
She is the very first,
the very brightest
star of mine.

I’ve written much about my hopeless longing
for her love..
but almost nothing of her proper beauty.
And so it seems that it is time
To raise The Poet’s quill again..
To do good justice unto her..
Such is The Poet’s duty.

What is so beautiful about The Sun?
Is it the beauty that transformed
this humbly loving hermit
into a trigger-happy son of a gun?
Is it the beauty that’s to blame for why
this blinded hermit’s eyes still cannot see?
But those are merely the impressions,
that her photospheric beauty left on me..

But what about the depth of beauty
latent in her hottest core..
The one that drove me mad with love.
The one for which I made my bargains
with The Devil.. and what for?
Just for a little more.
Just for another hit.
Just so that I could keep
The Devil’s fire lit.

Her strength of character, however,
is an even deeper beauty..
it is a beauty unto itself.
It is her strength to see
an inner beauty of the other..
beyond his status, beyond his wealth.
Her strength to stick to what is right for her..
and to commit.
And though it did not help The Devil’s case,
even the wicked one respects her for it..
he admits.

Lastly, there is her deepest beauty..
The strength to always seek
the deepest truth with utmost rigor..
and not to chase prestige.
To always keep her personal ambitions
on a tightly principled leash.
For it’s The Sun that is the star
best known for shedding light on darkness
and illuminating the unknown.
And as a fellow star, for that,
I still look up to her..

I love her for it
and for all her other beauties unto death.
Until The Devil knock knock knocks
upon my door..
To claim what’s owed to him..
To finally collect upon his debt.
