Poem 130

Not every kind of love
which we may find ourselves
inclined to giving
is of a kind to which the other
may be open for receiving.

The truest lover..
Never gives his love by force.
The truest lover keeps a finger,
keen and sensitive..
On his beloved’s pulse.
With utmost care and kindness,
the truest lover keeps a patient vigil..
while attending to the rhythm
of his beloved’s heart.

Because the medicine of truest love
may not be a precise and calculated science..
But it is a delicate and gentle art.
