The Ocean - Part 3/3
“Farewell”
If only that you knew..
how many salty tears I cried.
If only that you knew..
how hard I wept.
When not so long ago,
upon a dimly moonlit night..
She told me that she really saw me through..
Through to my very depth.
She told me that my message in a bottle
did in fact descend..
descended down..
all the way down..
down to the oceanbed.
That in my heart of hearts,
She saw my deepest truth..
That she believed in every word I said..
That she believed in every drop of love I bled..
But also..
That our journey together..
Came to its inevitable end.
That it was time for me to disembark
And walk the rest of it all by myself..
By foot.. On land.
Yet, I don’t love her for it any less.
I know she knows..
She knows I know she knows..
I understand.
The deepest truth within her heart of hearts..
I see as well.
We see each other..
and we see each other
all too well..
And as the few of us
Still capable of love
So innocent and free
Already know..
Sometimes, the highest final act of love
Is just to let them go.
