The Ocean - Part 2/3
“Wisdom of the Depth”
When you stare into The Ocean’s depth
Her depth stares back right into you..
And in all her depth, The Ocean..
Really.. truly saw me through.
She saw a beauty, latent in my madness..
And in my darkness, she beheld a light.
She sparked a flame of joyful inspiration in me
right when I needed it the most..
Upon a dark and moonless night.
She taught me that our love is best reserved
For those who take it gracefully..
And also those who give it back.
That in our heart of hearts we may be
lonesome wolves..
But that in due time,
We shall find our people
and become a member of our pack.
She taught me to set sail
With joyful recklessness
And reckless inspiration
Towards a dream..
however remote, however distant
that faraway and azure coast
to us today may seem.
She taught me that nobody else
will solve our problems for us..
That it is foolish to rely upon another
to give us a free ride.
She taught me that not by her words alone..
For, in the end, she led me by example..
she fought and triumphed on her own,
in her own fight.
She taught me that a love
most generous and giving
is a love that buoys and uplifts..
And not a love that suffocates
and drowns.
That a lover’s giving ought to balance
A beloved’s receiving..
And not the other way around.
