When is it okay to play with fire?
Only when the situation calls for it?
When things get dire?
When it is cold, and you feel wanting
for a source of heat?
When you have food to cook,
and you are starving,
and you simply cannot wait to eat?
When it is dark.. and you are lost..
And need a light to see the way?
I merely question! Who am I to say?
However, there are other roles..
more wicked and unspoken of..
that fire has been known to play…
Is it okay to play with fire
when you need a burning threat?
To use as leverage in your dispute?
To put the other on his best behavior?
To make him see your truth?
Unless they are the ones
who wield the flame,
The Church forbids it..
But The Devil shall permit.
He shall even spare for you
a humble spark.. to get it lit.
Yet, there are other ways
more sinful still
to play with fire.
Is it okay to play with fire..
When in the goblet of your deepest truth
and of your innermost desire..
Your favorite champagne,
which not so long ago you poured
just for yourself to drink..
In but an instant.. In but a blink..
went still?
And now you’re bored..
And now you’re thirsty
for another risky thrill.
And would you look at that..
The Devil offers you a means..
a means to justify your devilish ends.
In his devilish tongue he whispers to you..
and his whisper beckons you.. it tempts..
he urges you to carelessly ignite.
It is an urge too bitter to swallow..
but too sweet to fight.
Here are the words he whispers to you..
Once upon a dimly moonlit night…
“””
It is okay to play with fire..
Just because you love to see it burn.
because it awe-inspires.
because it shakes your heart awake.
In other words..
It is ok to play with fire..
just for its own sake.
It is a joy so pure and innocent..
that it’s impossible to fake.
