The Midnight Devil’s Letter - Act II
My love.. my one and only Ocean..
My deepest,
my most generously giving muse.
The one I tease so mercilessly..
For no good reason..
Other than to cause a tremble
in your tender heart
and to amuse..
Still I offer you the keys
to pry wide open mine..
And still I beckon you to do so..
Still I am hoping that you would..
Still there is time…
Shed not for me your salty tear..
For still I love you blindly and madly..
Still I would take a bullet or a knife for you,
without a hesitation, gladly.
Do not be frightened..
For I beckon you, my love, be strong
and show no fear..
For still my longing for you
aches me terribly and badly..
Still for you..
I am here.
Still I am here…
For my most beautiful
For my most precious
Living work of art.
Still rests upon my scales, as well,
Your tender heart..
But what might be its counterweight?
I haven’t learned that yet..
But still it isn’t evening..
Still it may not be quite too late
For me to learn it.. Yet.
Alas, it takes a pair to sing one’s heart out..
to dance The Midnight Devil’s dance.
A pair of what? I’m sure you know..
I’m sure you understand.
A pair of heavenly bodies..
Drawn together by gravity.
Two tapestries, woven into one another..
Into a beautifully shared reality.
For it’s the bodies..
That consummate
The intermarriage of two minds.
To share each other’s joy
and sorrow.
For it’s The Moon
that leads The Ocean’s tides..
And it’s The Ocean
that chooses to (or not to) follow..
To abide:
By the beat of his heart
By the shifting of his gravity
By the rhythmic stepping of his feet
gentle, yet firm, upon the ground…
That is the basic step.. the way things go
And not the other way around.
