The Midnight Devil’s Letter - Act I
The tides have risen
but shall they fall?
the night grows silent..
And just as I begin to fall asleep..
I hear a growling whisper,
rumbling and deep.
And as I hearken
to The Midnight Devil’s call..
I see him stand beside me,
in carne e ossa.. at my bedside..
looming over me.. so menacing and tall…
The Poet slumbers..
as a raucous lullaby
of underworldly rumbles plays.
It keeps on growing louder..
Such are The Midnight Devil’s
strange and crooked ways..
The Poet’s heart,
so innocent and tender,
dreams lovingly about The Ocean
beautiful and deep.
And in the meanwhile..
Midnight Devil,
sprinkles sulfur on his eyelids
as he sleeps.
Indeed, it seems the tides have turned.
Tonight, we celebrate His coming home..
The Midnight Devil has returned.
Intends He not, this time, however..
to get burned
except on His own terms
except on His own flame.
And so upon His celebration day
He pours His heart out, once again..
Into another humble letter..
In hopes that it may reach you very soon..
It better.
